Why should you choose to centrifugally cast a babbitt bearing?
By spinning a bearing at the proper RPM, the molten Babbitt can be poured under pressure. This centrifugal force combined with rapid cooling will provide the best bond, and bearing integrity.
This process ensures that the poured babbitt is free of impurities, gasses, or imperfections. Thus providing the best bond strength, and extending the life of your bearing!
Fusion Babbitting will provide ultrasonic bond certification, and dye penentrant testing.
Fusion also maintains an inventory of certified babbitt, allowing Fusion to match any OEM specification of babbitt that your bearing would require.
The Arc Flame Spray Process is the introduction of two electrically conductive wires (from 1.6mm to 2mm in diameter) that are melted by means of an electric arc process operating up to 350 amps.
The molten material produced by the electric arc is them atomized by the introduction of compressed air, which propels the molten metal towards the surface requiring the build up of new material.
The molten particles impacting and adhering to the target surface rapidly solidifying to form a very strong and dense coating on the original base material. This style of arc flame spray process is called the "cold process" (relative to the base metal/material being coated) as the base material’s temperature can be kept low during ...
Fusion Babbitting services many major OEM manufacturers in the area of rebabbitting as well as manufacturing new bearings. Our facility is well equipped to produce the highest quality bearings for your product. As well as providing drawing documentation to support components manufactured to OEM specifications. We are ISO 9001: 2008 certified.
Quality Control is our First Priority Babbitt bearings of all types are centrifugally cast and machined to meet or exceed the original manufacturer's specifications. Bearing shells are carefully examined for mechanical flaws and purified. Our Certified Technicians use ultrasonic testing and dye penetrant inspection to guarantee babbitt-to-shell bonds.
Fusion's Engineering Department along with their Customer Support and Service Departments provide a wide range of knowledge and capabilities for the identified but not limited to industries. Fusion Babbitting Co., Inc. takes great pride in assisting its clients with its Reverse Engineering capability, of critical components.
The primary image (bearing painted red) shows an example of a customer's bearing that was made from a casting. No patterns were available, and Fusion designed and purchased a forging to manufacture the customers spare bearing.
Fusion's Engineering Department evaluated the cast housing and provided a new design solution to the client; which replaced the existing cast iron housing with a forged ...
Fusion's Machine Shop is capable of Machining bearings and or components up to 72 inches in diameter and 72 inches in overall length to exacting tolerances and specifications. We also have the ability to re-babbitt bearing ID’s and re-machine them, along with OD’s being built-up with Arc Spray so they can be re-machined back to original OEM specifications. Fusion can also re-machine spherical mounting surfaces and check them for fit with our blue dye checking method.

Fusion Babbitting Co can provide any style of RTD or (Remote Temperature Detector), Thermal Couples and or Seals required for your new and or remanufactured bearings. These bearing accessories are critical to the proper function and performance of the babbitted bearing shoe and or contact surface for large rotating equipment, and or the atmospheric environments they may be operating in.
The monitoring of the babbitted bearing temperature is done to prevent critical bearing component failure or damage, caused by lubrication oil breakdown generated by excessive heat. While the Thermal Couples perform as safety shut down devices or indicators that protect the equipment before damage can occur.
